Rhinos, like every other mammal do have some hair covering their bodies. Their hair, however, is extremely thin and sparse. This is beneficial in that it allows them to stay cool in the hot climate that they inhabit. Since rhinoceros’ fur is so thin it offers them no protection from the sun. For this reason rhinos wallow in mud. Coating their skin with mud prevents them from being sunburned.
